My Memory is Me!

My memory is me, oh yes, I remember!

Memory produces the Mind.

Mind provides the arena for the thoughts,
which are screened, selected and censored,
which enter, remain, self regulate and modify existing memories or develop new ones,
and then exit to give room for further such thoughts during the whole wakeful time.

Me is my memory, I live with it!

"Memory connects innumerable single phenomena into a whole, and just as the body would be scattered like dust in countless atoms, if the attraction of matter did not hold it together, so consciousness - without the connecting power of memory - would fall apart in as many fragments as it contains moments." - Ewald Hering.

"Whilst part of what we perceive comes through our senses from the object before us, another part (and it may be the larger part) always comes from out of our own head." - William James

Consciousness is 'remembered present' - Gerald Edelman

"Without memory there  can be no mind" - Richard F Thompson

" In short, these authors are saying that what we see, think, and feel in a given situation depends on what we have experienced in the past - that we experience the present through the lens of memory" - Joseph Le Doux
